What is the best thing about playing the accordion?
Playing the accordion offers the possibility, alongside all traditional music and contemporary repertoire, to jump into the role of “usual“ orchestral instruments. The different ways of playing and its registration possibilities make my instrument a perfect chameleon and a great addition to a chamber orchestra like AMK.
If you could ask any composer one question, who would you pick and what would you ask him/her?
“Dear Mr. Shostakovich, could you write me a solo piece for accordion?“
What is your guilty pleasure that you only listen to in secret?
When I was 17, I discovered “Les mystères des chants bulgares“. I do not listen to it in secret every day, but it's very special to me!
If you had a super power, what would it be?
If we don't talk about saving the earth, making my beloved family and friends live forever or travel via beaming everywhere without leaving pollution, I would love to be able to play every instrument in all Mahler Symphonies.
What has been your best AMK moment so far?
The most beautiful moment, next to many others, was when I saw the glowing eyes of happiness of my colleagues when we sat in different positions to usual in a Mahler 1 rehearsal. It was so special to see friends so happily "working" together, wishing that moment could last as long as possible.
Describe AMK in three words.
Friendship, emotions and future.
